THOUSAND KINGS is the future. A firm favourite with the Jazz re:freshed faithful, for their raw creative energy, they have come to embody the spirit of contemporary Jazz Fusion, drawing elements of Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock, etc. together with heavy improvisation.

Far from a typical Jazz ‘Drums/Sax/Bass Trio’ with Kwake (MF DOOM, Jehst, DELS) the drummer being heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Shabaka Hutchings (Polar Bear, Sons of Kemet, Heliocentrics) a Multi-Reedist is amongst other things a colossal free-improvising musician and Karl Rasheed-Abel (Soweto Kinch, Courtney Pine, Laura Mvula, Kaidi Tatham) laying strong foundational bass-lines and forcibly breaking them apart. The trio lends itself to blurring the boundaries between folk, hip-hop, avant-garde and rock, enough for everybody and maybe too much for some.
