LyricL and the Jazz re:freshed crew go way (way way way) back. I’m talking Secondary School way back. So, it has been with great interest and admiration that we have watched this talented Emcee fulfill her potential and go from strength to strength. For those of us that know her and her hyperactive-million-words-a- minute personality, we can really see why she is such a dynamic performer, something which she has worked hard to achieve. Not all Emcees are adept at performing with a live band, however this is where LyricL thrives and is never more comfortable or assured in her performance than when she is spitting lyrics or singing, whilst accompanied by her eleven piece (yes, eleven piece) band.

Following on from SOMI, we will be hosting LyricL and her band at Mau Mau this coming Thursday, as part of our April themed ‘LADIES LOVE JAZZ’ season.
Here’s a little background on one of the UK’s most talented Emcees, male or female…
London based rapper and spokenword artist Nkechi da LyricL is British born with Nigerian origins. Her parents hail from Imo State (now Abia State), Isuikwuato and settled in the UK after fleeing during the Biafran War.
One of the UK’s leading female emcees. LyricL has appeared on stages worldwide from St Petersburg to Lisbon, and released singles in New Zealand, Austria, Japan, Sweden, Toronto and USA. Sought after by many producers for her lyrical ability and creativity within Hip Hop, Jazz, Afro and Broken Beat as well as Soulful House.
