Last year, acclaimed bassist, educator, arranger, mentor and band leader, Gary Crosby had audiences dancing in the aisles of some of the UK’s most prestigious venues for his 31-piece Jazz Jamaica All Stars extravaganza, Catch A Fire.
For 2013, he shifts focus to his new compact, more intimate project: Groundation which he describes as a ‘group discussion’ between himself (double bass), award-winning hornsman Nathaniel Facey (alto sax), and rising stars Shirley Tetteh (guitar) and Moses Boyd (drums).
Groundation play progressive jazz with some Afrobeat accents interspersed with thoughtful ballads.
