Daz I Kue is a legend, there I said it. And he is family. Not only is he family, but Daz was there from the beginning of Jazz re:freshed, being a founding member of Uprock Recordings, the collective that spawned it. So it was a no-brainer to have him play at JAZZ RE:FEST 2014.
Quite possibly the hardest working man in music, Daz has played his part – producer, engineer, writer, remixer, etc.- in countless releases, not to mention his extensive DJ career.
Daz seems to know everybody, but for the one or two of you out there who have yet to discover this national treasure, here’s a little run down on the man they call, Daz I Kue.
Daz-I-Kue, a Londoner, since his birth has always been into music, favoring vinyl records rather than candy like regular kids. With his childhood buddy at the age 14 forms The Funbunch Sound System, being the soundtrack for the high a number of successful parties hosted by the likes of Trevor Nelson (Radio 1), and Norman Jay MBE. 1989 The Funbunch Sound System lands itself a gig at the legendary Notting Hill Carnival and is still rockin’ the spot to this current day
To learn further the technical aspects of his sound system, Daz decides to take a course with School of Audio Engineering (SAE) and develops his love of music production! With the help of his friends, Daz formally begins his production career by financially investing in the purchase of industry-level music production equipment. He soon releases his first vinyl bootleg mega mix entitled, “Daz Mix Parts 1 & 2” (It was a big hit in Brooklyn apparently!) and then follows it up with his official debut 12” single entitled, “Daz Jazz”- with great support from radio, music magazines & DJ’s worldwide.
